Dichroic Glass Jewellery

Dichroic glass (which means two colours), is a particular kind of glass that has the unusual property of reflecting one colour while it transmits another. This means that the different colours can be viewed by examining the glass at different angles. This unique glass is manufactured by spraying a thin film on the glass in a controlled environment in a vacuum kiln. It was invented by NASA for its reflective properties.

Jeanette uses a combination of coloured glass, dichroic glass and clear glass, which are fused together at extremely high temperatures, to produce the unique items of jewellery.

A variety of shapes and sizes are cut from sheets of glass and combined before firing. The results are not completely predictable, adding to the uniqueness of each piece.
